TurboKlone 144 Review (2021)

Sometimes home gardening can become a serious business that a person invests most of their time and energy daily. For those of us who aren’t messing around, the TurboKlone Elite 144 with a built-in fan is the best option for a cloning machine.

In this TurboKlone 144 review, we’ll go over all its features, pros, and cons, as well as who it works best for and some tips for when you use it. By the end, you’ll have all the knowledge you’ll need to make this cloning machine your new best friend.

Quick Answer: TurboKlone 144 Review

TurboKlone 144

The TurboKlone 144 is the ultimate cloning machine, and it doesn’t skimp on its abilities. You can place up to 144 cuttings into this device and expect close to a 100% success rate due to its powerful fan, reliable reservoir, and optional vented humidity dome.

Propagation happens quickly with the TurboKlone 144, and cuttings can be ready to transplant in a few as 12 days.

Probably the best feature of the TurboKlone 144 is that with everything it offers, it doesn’t take up much more space than other cloning machines that can only manage 24 or 48 cuttings at a time.

The TurboKlone 144 in Full Review

Marketed as a commercial cloning machine, the TurboKlone 144 is currently the largest cloning machine on the market. Let’s see what features it has along with its pros and cons.

Features

The most noticeable feature of the TurboKlone 144 is its 144 cloning sites. This amount of sites gives you the most bang for your buck when purchasing this cloning machine.

The multi-colored site collars are made from Polyethylene, making them durable and long-lasting. And with the machine’s alphanumeric lid, it’s easy to keep track of different plant species.

The machine has an optional vented humidity dome, a gray ABS plastic shell, and a larger fan than other models. Even with all that, it doesn’t require much more space than other options, with dimensions measuring 46 inches x 21inches x 11.5 inches.

Pros

Some of the highlights of the TurboKlone 144 include:

  • Ample 11.5-gallon reservoir capacity
  • 4800 RPM fan keeps everything cool
  • Vented humidity dome is useful when needed
  • Gray reservoir reflects heat and keeps water cool

Plus, the reservoir is easy to clean because it’s designed with rounded edges.

Cons

Every machine has its disadvantages, and the TurboKlone 144 is no different. The most noticeable con is the machine’s price, as it is steep.

However, as mentioned, you get a whopping 144 cloning sites for the price, and the machine is comparable in size to other models on the market that may hold only 24 or 48 sites.

One other potential con is that the timer automatically runs on 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off timer. Without any interference, this setup can make the environment too hot for cuttings and cause rot.

Who Would Benefit Most from the TurboKlone 144?

The TurboKlone 144 is the same as any other TurboKlone machine in that it will give you excellent cuttings ready for planting in no time. With its 144 cutting sites, this machine is best for serious gardeners who do somewhat large-scale growing.

It can also be a good purchase for someone looking to expand their garden and create more variety.

Because of the price tag, it’s probably not worth it for beginners who could benefit just as much from a smaller cloning machine to start.

TurboKlone Tips

Like any apparatus, the TurboKlone 144 is only as good as the knowledge of the person who uses it. With that in mind, here are some tips for optimizing your results with the TurboKlone 144.

Water Type

It’s best to use simple tap water or well water. If you utilize water from a reverse osmosis system, it’s best to mix it with some spring water to add more particulates that the cuttings thrive on.

If you’re unsure, you can always do a pH test, where you want results between 5.8 and 6.2.

Reservoir Temperature Level

The ideal temperature for your reservoir water is 70℉. It can range anywhere from 65℉ to 75℉, and your plants should be just fine, but any colder or warmer could cause propagation issues.

If your water gets too hot, use the reservoir fan until it's back to optimal temperature.

Lighting

When it comes to lighting the TurboKlone 144, the best setup is a four-foot, dual bulb fixture containing 40-watt fluorescent bulbs. You want to hang the fixture somewhere between 18 and 24 inches from the cloning machine and have them turned on at least 18 hours per day, with a full 24 hours also working well.

Cutting Size

The general rule of (green) thumb is to have cuttings between 6 inches and 8 inches in length. Of that length, you want to expose about 2 inches worth of the cutting inside the unit.

You’ll know your cuttings are ready for transplanting when they have roots that are around 2 inches.

Cleaning

It’s wise to clean your machine between each cloning cycle use. The best way to do this is to create a solution of 30 parts water and 1 part hydrogen peroxide, place it in the reservoir, and run the machine for 24 hours.

After emptying the solution, refill the reservoir with only water and let it run for about another 8 hours before using it with a new group of cuttings.
