The day has come! The AEVA from Just Vertical was delivered this week, allowing us to get started on our growing journey. Our goal is to provide you, the consumer, an inside look into the process of growing with this automated smart garden.
Let's dive into how the unit was delivered, what was included, and look at what's next in our quest to grow indoors.
Unlike UPS or FedEx, deliveright is a white glove delivery service that goes a step beyond your typical package delivery. The team at deliveright called one week prior to schedule the delivery, then followed up the day prior to confirm the 4-hour delivery window.
When the team arrived, the AEVA was brought inside the home, unwrapped, and placed at my requested location. Note that the AEVA was always upright and not boxed, but instead carefully covered in protective wrap to ensure the unit was not scratched or damaged.
Upon inspection, the unit looked great, and I was asked to sign off on delivery. All trash from the delivery was hauled away. A very smooth delivery process!
The AEVA system was delivered along with the accessories needed to start the growing process today. The following items were already placed in the appropriate location within the AEVA:
The other items were unpacked and laid out carefully on a nearby table.
Note that the Operations Manual included a QR code that provided quick access to a number of instructional videos for operating the system. This was helpful to visualize what needed to be done in the initial steps.
Additionally, there appear to be far more seeds of each type than needed to get started, which is nice should I want to start over or grow additional plants.
Once the AEVA was delivered and unwrapped, the quality of the materials used became immediately apparent. The wood base is not constructed of imitation wood or a cheap alternative, but instead is a beautiful and solid wood material. The chrome legs complement the wood well, providing a clean and modern accent. And the cabinet doors on the base are soft close, which is a nice feature that will prevent the cabinet from slamming shut.
The LED lights, which appear to be fixed to the center column with an adhesive, had become slightly loose and did require pressure to become secured once more. However, this was an easy fix.
Overall, the unit delivery process went smoothly, providing a service beyond what I am accustomed to. The AEVA look is also impressive. Everything advertised was delivered, allowing us to get started quickly.
Now that our system has arrived, the next step is to start the process of germinating our seeds. This is a necessary step before transferring our plants to the AEVA.
Let's get growing!
